Christina's Child Care Platform.

97-page operational platform for a family-run childcare business

AI-NativeClient BuildChildcare

Shipped a 97-page operational platform on Next.js 14 and Supabase that runs iPad kiosk attendance, family management, employee registration, CACFP financial tracking, and a Claude Haiku 4.5 recommendation layer where scan results produce action cards with approve-deny feedback that feeds the next recommendation.

The hardest call was the dual-write localStorage fallback: Supabase is the source of truth for everything, but connectivity in the actual center is inconsistent, so every client action writes to both stores and the kiosk functions offline with queued reconciliation on reconnect. That resolved a week-one operational blocker that pure cloud would have missed.

I would build the fitness-test harness first. I shipped features, then discovered three weeks later that a 35-test operational fitness suite against a realistic seeded day was the real deliverable because it reframed every future feature decision around actual center operations rather than feature wishlists.

Outcomes

  • Replaced $45,600/year SaaS with a $600/year custom platform
  • Operational fitness test graded platform B on first real-day simulation
  • Intelligence layer surfaces CACFP under-claiming (7.4% vs. 8-12% industry baseline)
