School Improvement Planning tool used by two BCCS schools

EducationInternal

Shipped a Next.js + Supabase tool that converts a paper-based school improvement process into collaborative software, used by two schools for their 2026-27 planning cycle with workbooks pre-populated from real budget playbook data and a $508K reduction decision traced through the workflow.

The hardest call was the transparency gap: the handoff documentation separates content that came directly from staff notes from content the tool synthesized. That separation cost time up front but was the load-bearing move for principal trust, because reviewers could see exactly where the tool had filled in vs. where humans had decided.

I would build the fork tooling before the third deployment. The CHPS and Osseo forks each took 4-6 hours of templating the first time; a proper multi-tenant config layer would have made each fork a one-hour job from the start.

Outcomes

  • BCE + BCS 2026-27 planning cycle running on the tool
  • Two district forks shipped (CHPS, Osseo) as paid consulting work
  • $508K budget reduction decision traced through the workflow
